Defining a Line of Business for custom application


As an administrator, create a line of business by using a record definition and associate it with your custom application to enable automatic ticket creation from emails.

A line of business represents a specific operational area, defined with custom definitions, roles, and data access permissions, such as Facilities, Travel, Human Resources, or Legal.




To define a line of business for a custom application

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab.
  2. Select Shared services.
  3. Select Line of Business record definition and click Edit data.

  4. On the Data Editor page, click + New.
  5. In the New Record panel, specify the values for the required fields:

    Description

    Description

    Enter a description of the line of business.

    Name

    Enter a name for the line of business.

    Application ID

    Enter an application ID, for example, ha.bmc.bwf-custom-app.

    BWF LOB

    Set the value to False.

    Fully Qualified Name

    Enter the fully qualified name. This value is similar to Application ID.

    Domain ID

    Enter the domain ID.

    It must consist only of alphabets with no numeric characters, special characters, or spaces allowed.

    Functional Role ID

    Enter the functional role ID.

    Map the functional role to the custom application and establish a link to ensure role-based access.

    Group ID

    Enter the group ID.

    The Group ID is associated with the custom application role and is used for managing administrative activities for the custom application.

    isDefault

    Set the value to False.

    OOTB Data Created

    Select Successful from the list.

    Standalone application

    Set the value to True.

  6. Click Save.
