Associating a record editor field to a named list by using the Dynamic Named List component
Before you begin
Make sure you create a view definition with Record editor to which you want to add a temporary id generator. For more information, see Creating-a-view-for-a-record-instance-by-using-record-editor.
To associate the Dynamic Named List component to a record field on a view definition
- Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab.
- Select the application for which you want to add a Dynamic Named List component.
- On the Views tab, select the name of the view definition to which you want to add the Dynamic Named List component.
- From Palette, drag the Dynamic Named List component to the canvas into a Record editor component.
In the Properties pane, click Settings , and then specify the properties.

Example
Field name
Enter a unique name for the Dynamic Named List component.

Display Label
Enter a name for the field that must be displayed to the user at runtime.
Named List
Select a named list to map to the record field.

(Optional) Named List Additional Query
Build an expression to set conditions for the named list field.
For example, you can add a condition that a specific Line of Business must not be included in the list.
Type Ahead Mode
Select this option to enable the users to type and search for the named list values.
Value
Build an expression to show an initial value on loading the view definition.
Disabled
Use the toggle key to keep the Dynamic Named List component disabled at runtime.
Hidden
Use the toggle key to keep the Dynamic Named List component hidden at runtime.
Available on devices
Select the devices on which you want the view definition to be visible.
CSS classes
Defines the style of the component.
For more information, see CSS-classes-used-in-View-designer-components.
- Click Save.

The following image shows an example of the Dynamic Named List component used in a view definition:

In this example, the Dynamic Named List component is used to map the Approver text field to the Users named list. The values from the named list are displayed in the Approver field at runtime.
