Adding and deleting distributed fields

The information in this topic is applicable only for on-premises deployments.

All forms involved in distributed transfers with ownership must, at a minimum, contain the basic distributed fields.

Distributed fields are reserved fields. Join forms can contain only one instance of each reserved field. If both forms underlying a join form contain distributed fields, you can add the distributed fields from only one of those forms to the join form. This means that any runtime changes to a distributed request based on the join form are applied only from the distributed fields on one of its underlying forms.

To add distributed fields to forms

  1. In Developer Studio, open the appropriate form.
  2. Select Form > Add Distributed Fields.
  3. In the Add Distributed Fields dialog box, select one of these options:
    • Basic — See Basic distributed fields.
    • Full — See Full distributed fields.
    • Advanced — See Advanced distributed fields.

  4. To add the distributed fields as hidden fields, select the Add as Hidden Fields check box, and click OK.
The selected distributed fields appear at the bottom of the form.
  5. For forms with multiple views, add the distributed fields you selected in step 3 to the other form views as follows:
    1. Open another form view.
    2. Select Form > Add/Remove Fields on View.
    3. In the Add/Remove Fields in View dialog box, move the distributed fields from the Fields Not in View list to the Fields in View list.
If you do not select individual views, the distributed fields are added to all form views by default.

  6. (Optional) Rearrange the distributed fields on the form.
  7. Save your changes.

To delete distributed fields from forms

Warning

When you delete a field on a From (source) form that is mapped to a field on a To (target) form, you also delete the mapping to the target field. If the target field is optional, only data transferred between the two fields are affected. If the target field is required, the entire transfer operation fails.

  1. In Developer Studio, open the appropriate form.
  2. Select Form > Add Distributed Fields.
  3. In the Add Distributed Fields dialog box, do one of the following:
    • To remove only the advanced fields, select Full.
    • To remove the advanced and full fields, select Basic.
    • To remove all distributed fields, select None.

  4. Click OK.
  5. In the confirmation message, click OK.
