Previewing form updates


In Development mode, you can preview changes made to a form within Developer Studio, as shown in the following figure.

To enable form previewing, you must configure the mid tier preferences to identify the server and protocol information used by Developer Studio to access the forms that you want to preview, as shown in the following figure and described in the following procedure.

To enable form previewing in Developer Studio

  1. Open the Preferences dialog box, and select Mid Tier Information.
  2. In the Mid tier URL information section, select one of the following options:
    • Default Mid Tier to use—The mid tier to use for all servers to which you are connected
    • Custom Mid Tier to use—The path for specific servers on which forms are installed. You can edit the name in the Mid Tier Path column.
  3. For the selected server, specify a path, or edit an existing path as needed.
  4. In the Profiles used for preview section, select the Use logged in users profile check box to preview the form with the same credentials with which you logged on to Developer Studio.
  5. To preview the form with different profiles, click Add to enter the user name and password for the profiles.
  6. Change the default for one profile to true.

    At one time, only one profile can be actively used to preview a form. When you preview a form, the profile which has the default value set to true will be used.

  7. Click OK.

To preview a form in a browser

  1. Open the Preferences dialog box, and select Web Browser.
  2. Select the browser you want to use to preview a form.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Right-click a form from the form list.
  5. From the context menu, select Open in Browser.
  6. The selected form is displayed in the editor area.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
