Adding content to a package


After creating a package framework, we must add content to the package. This content can include the content types  as shown in the following image:

To add a packing list to a package

  1. In the Package Details console, from the Content Type list in the Deployment Package Contents panel, select Add Packing List.
  2. From the Include Object Type list, select if you want to add Base onlyOverlay only or Both type of objects to the package.
    • Base only—Displays all the out-of-the-box objects.
    • Overlay only—Displays only the overlay and custom objects.
    • Both—Displays all the overlay and custom objects along with their base objects.
  3. In the Packing List Name field, enter the name of the packing list or click Search to select the existing packing lists created in Developer Studio. For more information, see Creating-and-managing-packing-lists.
  4. Click Add.

To add a definition to a package

  1. In the Package Details console, from the Content Type list in the Deployment Package Contents panel, select Add Definition.
  2. From the Include Object Type list, select if you want to add Base onlyOverlay only or Both type of objects to the package.
    • Base only—Displays all the out-of-the-box objects.
    • Overlay only—Displays only the overlay and custom objects.
    • Both—Displays all the overlay and custom objects along with their base objects.
  3. Enter the information in the following fields:
    1. From the Type of Object list, select the required definition type.
    2. In the Name of Object field, enter the name of the relevant object. 
  4. Click Add.

To add an AR object to a package

  1. In the Package Details console, from the Content Type list in the Deployment Package Contents panel, select Add AR Definition.
  2. From the Type Of Object list, select Container.
  3. From the Include Object Type list, select if you want to add Base onlyOverlay only, or Both type of objects to the package.
  4. In the Name of Object+ field, perform one of the following steps:

    • If you know the name of the object, type the object name and press Enter.
    • If you do not know the name of the object, press Enter to open the object search form.

    The RDA:DeploymentObjectSearch form opens.

  5. From the Type of Container list, select an option.
    The following options are available:
    • Active Link Guide
    • Application
    • Packing List
    • Filter Guide
    • WebService
  6. Click Search
    The list of available objects is displayed. 
  7. Click Select.

The selected AR object is added to the application package.

To add a delete definition command to a package

  1. In the Package Details console, from the Content Type list in the Deployment Package Contents panel, select Delete Definition.
  2. From the Include Object Type list, select if you want to delete Base onlyOverlay only or Both type of objects from the package.
    • Base only—Displays all the out-of-the-box objects.
    • Overlay only—Displays only the overlay and custom objects.
    • Both—Displays all the overlay and custom objects along with their base objects.
  3. Enter information in the following fields:
    1. From the Type of Object list, select the required definition file.
    2. In the Name of Object field, enter the name of the object.
      To select the object that should be deleted from the environment when the package is deployed, click  Search.
  4. Click Add to delete the files from the package.
     You can select multiple objects by clicking  CTRL + Select.

To add data to a package

  1. In the Package Details console, from the Content Type list in the Deployment Package Contents panel, select Add Data.

  2. Specify the following fields:

    1. From the Form Name list, select the name of the form from where you want to add the data or click Search to select the form.
    2. The items in the Data Qualification list are populated based on the form you select from the Form Name list.
      From the Data Qualification list, select the fields that you want to add to build the qualification to select the data.
    3. From the Import Option list, select one of the following options: 
      • Merge No Rollback—Retains the existing content and adds new package content. You cannot roll back the package.
      • Overwrite and Rollback—Overwrites the existing content with new package content. You can roll back the package.
      • Merge and Rollback—Retains the existing content and adds new package content. You can roll back the package.
    4. Select one the following options for Suppress Filters:
      • Yes—Suppresses all the filters that are applied on the records.
      • No—Executes all the filters that are applied on the records.
    5. From the Duplicate Request Ids list, select an option.
    6. From the Match Duplicates By list, select the fields for which you want to find the duplicate records.

      Make sure that the fields selected from Match Duplicates By list are same as the fields selected from the Data Qualification list. If duplicate records are found, the action is taken based on the option you have selected in step e.

      Important

      When you select the fields from the Match Duplicates By drop-down list, the field IDs are separated by white spaces. This causes the import to fail and create duplicate entries.

      Make sure that you replace the white spaces by commas.

    7. From the Data Import Mode list, select an appropriate option:
      • Base ModeUse this option to create a deployment package by using an out-of-the-box option.
      • Overlay ModeUse this option to build a custom deployment package.

      The Data Import Mode selection is not applied when you build a package. The deployment application exports data from all fields. When you deploy the package, the data import depends on the customization type and the data import mode combination. Refer to the following table:

  3. Click Add.

To add Service Request Management to a package

  1. In the Package Details console, from the Content Type list in the Deployment Package Contents panel, select SRM.

    1. To add Service Request Definition, perform the following steps:
      1. From SRM RequestType, select Service Request Definition.
      2. From SRD Name, select the existing SRD created in Service Request Management.
        For more information about creating SRD, see Creating a standard SRD.
    2. To add Process Definition Template, perform the following steps:
      1. From SRM RequestType, select Process Definition Template.
      2. From PDT Name, select the existing PDTs created in Service Request Management. For more information about creating PDT, see Creating a standard PDT.
    3. To add Supporting data, select Supporting data from SRM RequestType.
  2. Click Add.

Important

Whenever you import an SRD into the system, to make it searchable on the Request Entry Console, make sure you perform indexing on the SRD:ServiceRequestDefinition form. For more information about indexing, see Defining-indexes.

To add HRCM to a package

  1. In the Package Details console, from the Content Type list in the Deployment Package Content panel, select HRCM.
  2. Enter the information in the required fields:
    1. From the HRCM Data Type list, select Solution
    2. The items in the Data Qualification list are populated based on the form you select from the Form Name list.
    3. From the Data Qualification list, select the fields to build an expression to retrieve the data that must be included in the package.
  3. Click Add.

To add an application object to a package

To add an application object to a package, you can create a package by using the following options. These options are available depending on your permissions.

  • Incident template
  • Change template
  • Work Order template
  • Task template or task group template
  • Custom application
  • Service targets
  1. In the Package Details console, from the Content Type list in the Deployment Package Contents panel, select Application Object.
    The options in the Type field are populated based on the permissions you have.
    If you have any custom application, you can view the same in this list.
    When you select an Incident Template, the Name field is populated with the template authoring company and template category information.
    When you select Change Template or Work Order Template, the Name field is populated with the template location company and template category information.
  2. In the Content Description field, enter additional information about the package.
  3. Click Add.

Important

If you use the out-of-the-box Change Template, perform the following steps:

  • When you add the template as an application object, manually add Category 1 if a category is not displayed.
  • Make sure that Category 1 is defined on the source and the destination server.

 To add a Deployment Payload to a package

  1. In the Package Details console, from the Content Type list in the Deployment Package Content panel, select Deployment Payload.
  2. From the Deployment Payload Group Name list, select an appropriate record.
  3. Click Add.

 To add a Smart IT Definition to a package

  1. In the Package Details console, from the Content Type list in the Deployment Package Content panel, select SmartIT Definition.
  2. In the Content Description field, enter a description for your content
  3. Select the specific Object Type that you want to export.
    For example, select Screen with Contents to export screen configuration information.
  1. Select an appropriate option from the Overlay Type list.
  2. Click Add.
    The FND:SmartIT Layout Object Search Dialog box is displayed.
  3. Select the screen for which you want to export the configuration information. To export the information of specific fields, you must select the screen and the panel where the fields appear.
  4. Click Add and then click Save.

 To add a CDM definition to a package

  1. In the Package Details console, from the Content Type list in the Deployment Package Contents panel, select  CMDB .
  2. From the CMDB Object Type list, select Add Class or Add Attributes.
  3. Click Add. A dialog box to add the object type opens.
  4. In the Name of Object field, enter the class name or attribute name. 
  5. (Optional) To search CMDB Class with name, click Search. The object search dialog box lists the matching CMDB Class or Attribute objects.
  6. (Optional for Add Class) To include child classes for the selected class, select Yes from the Include Child Classes list. The default value is No.
  7. (Optional for Add Attributes) To include the attributes for the selected class, select Yes from the Add Attributes list. The default is No.
  8. To add the selected object, click Add and then click Save .
Important

When you create a package by using CDM definitions, first you must add a class to the package and subsequently select and add an attribute. An error occurs if you try to import an attribute before importing a class.
