Changes to configuration settings during an upgrade

For BMC Helix Innovation Suite upgrades from version 21.x or later to the latest version, BMC has introduced a feature that restricts the upgrade process from changing the CCS parameters, especially those specific to your environment. 

The AR System Block Configuration Component Setting form includes the CCS parameters with the following settings:

  • Allowed Setting (applicable for CCS parameters added to the Exclusions List maintained by BMC)—The feature allows the upgrade process to change the values of these CCS parameters.
  • Blocked Setting—The feature restricts the upgrade process from changing the values of these CCS parameters.
  • Changed Setting (applicable if any parameter in the Allowed Setting list is changed)—The feature updates the form with the changed CCS parameter values.

The AR System Configuration Setting Merge form captures the changes to the CCS parameters during the upgrade process.

After the upgrade is successful, as an administrator, you can use this form to:

  • Review the changed parameter values and decide which changes to accept.

  • Troubleshoot issues with any feature by checking if an associated CCS parameter value is unintentionally updated.

    If any CCS parameter is blocked unintentionally and gets updated in the AR System Block Configuration Component Setting instead, as a workaround, in the AR System Upgrade Tracker form, update the following setting:
    ComponentStatus = Completed when ComponentName = PIPELINE-STATUS

The following image shows the changes to the CCS parameters during the upgrade process that are added to the AR System Configuration Setting Merge form.

To retain the current values, navigate to ../AR System Configuration Setting Merge/Merge Settings, select an individual setting or all the settings, and click Update Current For All Selected.
