Implementing DSO

The information in this topic is applicable only for on-premises deployments.

See the topics listed in the following table to know about working with distributed fields, mappings, and pools, and how to administer data transfers between forms:

Action

Reference

Create a workflow to perform DSOoperations

Add and delete distributed fields

Create distributed mappings

Modify distributed mappings

Create and modify local mappings

Create and modify distributed pools

Perform distributed operations on join forms

Before you begin

Before you begin, make sure you have the appropriate permissions to configure Distributed Server Option. For more information, see Assigning-permissions-to-access-objects-and-requests.

To set up distributed operations

  1. Activate DSO and configure it for your distributed environment.
    For more information, see Configuring-Distributed-Server-Option.
  2. Determine which forms you will transfer data from and which forms you will transfer data to.
  3. Consider the following criteria and determine the degree of control you need over the transferred data:
  4. Determine which distributed fields to add to the forms identified in step 2. For more information, see Distributed-fields.
  5. Add distributed fields to the forms identified in step 2. For more information, see Adding distributed fields to forms.
  6. Determine whether you will use distributed pools. For more information, see Distributed-pools.
  7. (Optional) Create distributed pools according to your analysis in step 3. For more information, see Creating-and-modifying-distributed-pools.
  8. Determine how to map the forms identified in step 2. For more information, see Distributed-mapping.
  9. Create the required distributed mappings. For more information, see Creating-distributed-mappings.

    Important

Unless otherwise noted, this procedure assumes that you are mapping between two servers. To maintain data integrity on more than two servers, see Chained-and-broadcast-distributed-transfers.

  10. Create filters or escalations that define the conditions under which distributed operations occur. For more information, see Creating-workflow-to-perform-DSO-operations.
  11. (Optional) Employ some of these advanced functions:
