Permitted and non-permitted modifications on overlays


The following table provides information about the modifications that you can or cannot perform on overlays. Best Practice Customization mode of Developer Studio prevents you from making nonpermitted modifications.

    You can add only custom forms to the data list. You cannot add origin or overlay forms.

If a base application is not licensed, you cannot license its overlaid application. If you license the base application after creating an overlay, the overlaid application is licensed automatically. If your overlaid application is user licensable, you can add the custom forms to the user license. You cannot license an unlicensed non-custom form in an overlay application.
