Deploying application tailoring changes
The following table describes certain actions that you can perform on the packages in BMC Helix Innovation Studio:

While creating or importing a package, you can view its version in the following ways:
- Creating a content package—While creating the content package, on the Options tab, the Version field displays the version of the package.
- Importing a content or export package—The .zip file of the package has the version number appended to it. Otherwise, unzip the file and search for the .manifest file that has the version number.
You can also view the version of an application or library. In BMC Helix Innovation Studio, on Workspace tab, the Version column displays the version for the application or library.
Before you begin
Make sure that you complete the following tasks:
- Tailor an application according to your business needs.
- Create a content package that includes the tailoring changes of the application.
To import a content and an export package
- Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab.
- Select the installed application for which you want to apply the changes in the package.
The application details are displayed. - Select Actions > Import Definitions and Data.
- Select the package that you want to import.
The Import Definitions and Data dialog box appears that shows the package import is in progress, as shown in the following image: - After the package import is complete, click Close.

The package is imported, and the tailored definitions and data are available for use in BMC Helix Innovation Studio.
Troubleshooting
The import of the content package fails and generates issues
If the import of the content package fails, as an administrator, you can download the log files to track the activities and resolve issues observed during the import. To view the logs for import content packages, perform the following steps:
- Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab.
- Select the installed application for which you want to apply the changes in the package.
The application details are displayed. Select Actions > Content package import logs.
The Content package import logs window displays the following details:Fields
Description
Package creation date
Lists the creation date of all the imported content packages. You can select the creation date to filter the packages you want to view to check the logs.
Package name
Displays the content package name.
Created by
Displays the name of the user who created the content package.
View
Displays the following options:
- Definitions—Lists all the definitions from the imported content package.
- Data—Lists all the data from the imported content package.
Application/Library
Displays the applications or libraries that are included in the content package.
Messages
Displays the status report of the success or any failures for all the data and definitions selected from the content package. You can select one of the following options:
- All
- Success
- Warning
- Error
- Unchanged
- Click View log.
- Click Close.
