View definition components


The View designer in the BMC Helix Innovation Studio contains the following components that you can use while designing a view definition in the Digital Service application UI.

Important

Application business analysts can customize the objects developed in their own applications and that are marked customizable by the developers, but cannot customize the objects developed in com.bmc.arsys. For example, objects in core BMC applications like Foundation, Approval, and Assignment cannot be customized. For more information, see Customization-layer

Action button

Action button icon.png

Launches an action in a view. For more information, see Adding-an-action-button-to-a-view.

Button bar

Button bar icon.png

Launches a block or container to accommodate a collection of action buttons in a single strip or block.

Container

Container icon.png

Defines a region of a view that can include view components or nested containers.

Image

Image icon.png

Displays an image stored in an attachment field.

For more information, see Displaying-images-from-attachments-at-runtime.

Record editor

Record editor icon.png

Provides the following features:

  • Allows data editing for record instances
  • Supports data menus and includes all supported typed data widgets
  • Includes configurable logic to define dynamic expressions, cascading menus, and configurable actions for validation

Record grid

Displays record fields in a tabular format on UI.

Rich text

Rich text icon.png

Enables rich text formatting including adding hyperlinks when designing a view definition.

Tab panel

Tab panel icon.png

A tab panel interface component is a container for resources associated with a tab. It is a set of layered pages where only one page is displayed at a time. For more information see, Configuring-a-Tab-Panel-view-component.

View preset selector

View preset selector.png

Displays a list of predefined presets you want to use at runtime. For more information, see Adding-a-View-preset-selector-to-a-view.

Record editor inputs


Fields

Displays the record fields on the UI. You can use the following field types in the View designer:

Association, Attachment, Boolean, Date, Date/Time, Decimal, Dropdown, Floating, Integer, Select, Select group, Text, Text area, Localized Text, and Time.

Rich text area

Rich text area icon.png

Formats the text in an input field (with unlimited length) by using a Rich Text Editor.

Important: The rich text formatting does not support inserting a hyperlink, an image, or an expression.

Extension container

Extension container icon.png

Provides settings for extending a view definition.
