Creating a graphical representation of process tasks for business workflows
The Process Preview component is available in the Shared Components section of the View designer and displays the task workflow in read-only mode. It is visible only if the following bundles are deployed:
- Shared Components
- ITSM Application
As an application business analyst, create a process preview for the business workflows, which is a graphical representation of the tasks that are required to complete the process.
To add a Process Preview component to a view definition
- Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab.
- Select the application for which you want to add a Process Preview component.
- On the Views tab, click the name of the view definition to which you want to add the Process Preview component.
- From Palette, drag the Process Preview component to the canvas in the order that you want them to appear on the user interface.
In the Properties pane on the right side, click Settings
, and then specify the properties.

Example
Process Definition Name
Enter the fully qualified process definition name.
For example: com.bmc.dsm.lob.bmc-sample-human-resource:Onboarding Request_1658910712800
Process Instance ID
Enter the process instance ID. You must enter the value for this field to see the status of the tasks in the process.
The following color schemes around the task blocks denote the respective task status:
- Gray—The task is completed.
- Green—The task is in progress.
- Red—The task is not completed because of an error or dependency.
Case ID
Enter the case GUID.
Company
Enter the company name.
Requester
Enter the requester name.
Contact
Enter the requester contact information.
Hidden
Enable this field to keep the Process Preview component hidden at runtime.

Definition Activity View
Select a view from the list to create a task template preview.
This task template preview is displayed when you create a process.
- Click Save.
