Copying a process

As an administrator or an application business analyst, you can copy a process within an application or to a different application or library.

You can copy a process in the following ways:

  • Copy a process within an application
  • Copy a process to another application 

To copy a process within an application or library

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio. 
  2. Click the application or library from which you want to copy a process.
  3. Click Processes and select the process that you want to copy.
  4. Select Copy > Within This Application.

    The copied process is displayed in the Process designer UI. 
  5. In Name, type a name for the process. 
  6. Modify the process if required and click Save.

To copy a process to another application or library

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio. 
  1. Click the application or library from which you want to copy a process.
  1. Click Processes and select the process that you want to copy.

  1. Select Copy > To Another Application/Library.

    Important

    You can copy a process only if it has public scoped objects. The following error message is displayed if you are copying a process that has application scoped objects:

    References to Application or Library scope are not allowed here. See other messages for details.

    Other messages related to the application scoped objects also appear.

    The Select Application/Library dialog box is displayed if the process can be copied.

  2. In the Select Application/Library dialog box, select the target application or library where you want to copy the process. 

    Important

    You can view and select only those applications or libraries that you can access.

  3. Click Ok.

    The copied process is displayed in the Process designer UI.

  4. In Name, type a name for the process. 
  5. Modify the process if required and click Save.

The process is saved in the target application. 

Important

You can create, copy, or edit process definitions only in your custom applications or custom libraries. Processes in the out-of-the-box applications and libraries, such as Foundation and Approval cannot be copied.
