Verifying permissions for the Windows accounts


If  will not run as a Windows service, verify that it can be run manually using the following procedure. If you are using Email Engine on Windows, do not run the Email Engine service and EmailStart.bat at the same time.

If you are using MAPI, log on to the server as the Windows account used to start the  service.

To verify permissions for Windows accounts

  1. Open a command prompt.
  2. Change directories to the BMC Remedy AR System email installation directory.
  3. At the prompt, run EmailStart.bat.
  4. If the mail process does not run, verify the necessary permissions.
  5. If you are not using MAPI, verify that the  user account has the appropriate file system permissions on the  directory.

    Note

    If you are using a Microsoft Exchange server with SMTP and either POP3 or IMAP4, verify that your Exchange server has the SMTP gateway enabled as well as either POP3 or IMAP4 functionality.
