Enabling logs for performance issues

A good first step to investigate performance issues is to enable AR System logs to capture more detail about the individual operations that are slow. This topic describes how to enable logs that are useful for further investigation.

Warning

These logs grow rapidly in size when the server is active. Verify you have sufficient space on the hard drive, and leave the logs enabled only during the testing period that captures the performance issue.

Watch the following video to understand how to troubleshoot AR System performance issues when logging has not been enabled.

To enable logs for a performance issue

  1. Open the AR System Administration: Server Information form, and click the Log Files tab.
  2. Select the boxes to enable the following logs:
    • API Log
    • SQL Log
    • Escalation Log
    • Filter Log
    • Plug-in Log
  3. Verify each of the above logs write to a file (not a form).

    Tip

Select the Buffer Log Lines and Log Per Thread options to mitigate the performance impact of logging.

  4. Set Maximum Log-File Size to 0.
  5. Click Apply.

To disable logs after capturing a performance issue
