Performing the installation


This topic provides instructions for installing the BMC Remedy ITSM - Mobility server. The BMC Remedy ITSM - Mobility is not installed by any other BMC Remedy product.

Before you begin

Download the installation files from the BMC Software Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) site. See Downloading-the-installation-files.

Be sure to review and verify the system requirements before beginning the installation. The BMC Remedy ITSM - Mobility server should be installed on its own computer, which meets the system requirements. It can be installed on the BMC Remedy Mid Tier server. The Mobility Administration Server is a BMC Remedy AR System application that can be installed on an BMC Remedy AR System server. However, the AR System server must be the AR76 version or above.

To install the BMC Remedy ITSM - Mobility server

  1. Run the setup.cmd file from the location where you downloaded it from the EPD site.
     You are notified that you need to upgrade Terminal Service configuration.
  2. Follow the procedures on the page, and then click Next.
     The installer examines the operating system version.
  3. Follow the procedures on the page and then click Next.
  4. On the Welcome page, click Next.
  5. On the Review License Agreement page, select I agree to the terms of the license agreement and then click Next.
  6. Select the directory in which you want to install the server or select the default directory, and then click Next.
  7. On the User Input page, perform the following steps:
    1. Enter the AR System server name. The default value is localhost.
    2. Enter the AR Application Service password.
    3. Enter 0 as the AR System server port number.
    4. Click Next.
       The installer validates the BMC Remedy AR System server credentials.
  8. To install the Apache Tomcat web server, click Yes.
     If your system already has Tomcat 6 or Tomcat 7 installed, this step is skipped.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Choose the default directory to install Tomcat, and click Next.
  11. Enter 8080 for the Tomcat HTTP port, and click Next.
     The installer validates the port.
  12. Enter the Mobility Server port. The default port is 80.
  13. Click Install.
     The installation page is displayed.
