Displaying the Search Inventory Locations dialog box to set the CI location

To easily integrate custom classes with the inventory information of a CI, as an Asset admin or Asset user, you can automatically set the following location information of a CI by using the Search Inventory Locations dialog box. This dialog box is displayed when you set the value of the Status field of a CI to In Inventory. For more information, see Creating-a-Computer-System-CI. By default, the Search Inventory Locations dialog box is not displayed for all the CI types. To display the dialog box, see To display the Search Inventory Locations dialog box.

To display the Search Inventory Locations dialog box

  1. In a browser, enter the following URL to open the SHR:SchemaNames form:
    http://<midTierServer>/arsys/forms/<ARSystemServer>/<formName>
    For example,     http://vw-us-rem-qa:8080/arsys/forms/vw-us-rem-qa/SHR:SchemaNames.
  2. In the Schema Name field, enter the schema name of the required CI type.
  3. Click Search.
  4. In the In Inventory field, select Yes.
  5. Click Save. 

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
