Application Overview

Fusion Visual Boards extends the graphic functionality of BMC Helix for agile work management. It enhances the off-the-shelf functionality of BMC Helix ITSM and BMC Helix Business Workflows.

Fusion Visual Boards transform the way BMC Helix ITSM and BMC Helix Business Workflows function. With added capabilities that fully align with your agile environment, you will see - and manage - your work in a whole new way. Building upon BMC Helix Platform, Fusion Visual Boards graphically visualize incidents, problems, work orders, and tasks according to Kanban work management. Kanban visualizes workflows to manage flow, limit work in progress, make feedback and policies clear, and improve collaboration and experimentation.

Visual Boards offers pre-configured Kanban Boards and Gantt Charts, that can be used directly. If special requirements arise, that go beyond the delivered functionality, the existing views and processes in Visual Boards can serve as examples and inspiration for their own configurations of the provided view components. As a best practice, we recommend developing new Kanban Boards in a separate application.

Today’s customers demand continuous improvement on services that you deliver. Organizations need ways to scale agile IT Service Management. Two agile strategies, Kanban and Gantt Charts make IT Service Management easier and smoother. These visualization boards make it easy to see all work and quickly identify bottlenecks and resource challenges.

Use the information in this section to understand the primary milestones for getting orientated with the Fusion Visual Boards documentation.

Kanban visualizes workflows to manage flow, limit work in progress, make feedback and policies clear, and improve collaboration and experimentation. You can use it in two ways:

  • Single Source—Create a Kanban Board for an object, providing one lane per status value. Hide any status values that are not required. 
  • Multi-Source—Create a Kanban Board with flexible configurations that combine lanes by one or more statuses, such as assigned and pending work orders and assigned incidents in a single “in backlog” lane.

Release 21.3 will contain -

  • Kanban for multiple Helix ITSM Objects in one Kanban view.
  • Kanban for Business Workflows Case & Task
  • Gantt for Change.
  • Gantt for the Work order.

Functional Roles Overview

  • Functional roles are a collection of multiple application roles. It allows the user to work on multiple applications without mapping multiple groups to the application roles and assigning these multiple groups to the user. 
  • Fusion Visual Boards have functional roles, that can be granted to users to control visibility. 
  • Fusion Agility Suite comes with "Visual Boards ITSM User" and "Visual Boards BWF User".
  • A person, that has the role of "Visual Board ITSM User" can view the preconfigured Kanban Boards for incidents, tasks and work orders.
  • A person, that has the role of "Visual Board BWF User" can view the preconfigured Kanban Boards for BWF cases and tasks.
