Kanban Boards
Kanban visualizes tasks within a sprint (Agile project) or phase (Phased project) or visualizes subtasks within a parent task, in order to manage flow, limit work in progress, make feedback and policies clear, and improve collaboration and user experience.
Overview of Kanban Board
Below is the screenshot of a Kanban board of Agility Suite.
All the highlighted parts of the screenshot are explained in the table below.
Sr.No. | Functionality | Purpose |
---|---|---|
1. | Label | Name of the sprint or phase which contains the tasks, or name of the task which contains the subtasks. |
2. | Filter | We can use available filters to see the data based on the selected one. Pre-defined filters help to see data based on fields. |
3. | Available presets | By default filter presets are available to sort the data based on the selected ones. e.g. If we select preset as "Modified within the last 30 days" Tasks that are modified within the last 30 days will be displayed. |
4. | Toggle button | The Kanban board gives us the flexibility to view by people or by teams in the project. By default, it's by people which are displayed in the below chip bar. If the toggle button is enabled then teams are displayed on the chip bar. |
5. | Chip-bar | The chip bar shows People or Teams whatever is selected by using the toggle button. It helps in associating the Person/Teams to the Task which is displayed in the lanes. If we need to assign, re-assign any task to a particular Person/Team with just drag-drop can be very easily done. |
6. | Status Lanes | Kanban board displays status task lanes. For every Task record the Kanban board displays the Task ID, Summary, Assigned to, Last modified by, to that Task. |
7. | Arrow icon | The arrow icon opens the Task in edit mode i.e. it takes you to the task console and allows you to make changes. |
8. | Pen icon (Edit button) | For every task which is displayed on the Kanban board, a pen icon is provided on it. This edit option helps in editing the task there on the Kanban board itself. Click on the 'pen' icon a custom view will be displayed with minimal summary and status, changes done to get saved are immediately reflected on the board. |
9. | Lane Change Dialog | The status of a Task can be changed by the board. We can simply drag the Task from one lane to another. e.g. If Task#001 is in the 'In Progress' lane and we want to move it to "Pending" simply click on the task drag and drop it on the 'In Progress' lane. |
