Creating projects


This topic guides you on how to submit new Projects. For a quick introduction and life cycle of Project Management, you can refer to Project-Management-Overview. These operations can be performed by Portfolio Managers and Project Masters.

To create a new project

  1. Log in Agility Suite application and select Create > Project.
  2. On the Create Project page, enter the values for the following fields: 

    Field Labels

    Description

    Project Summary

    Enter a short summary of the Project which describes the objective.

    Description

    This is a special type of field which supports basic formatting, images, tables, and hyperlink.

    Enter details of the objective, and goal which is fulfilled by addressing this project.

    Attachments

    You can associate attachments which can be used as detailed information about the project.

    Behaviour

    Type of project: Agile or Phased.

    Associate Portfolio 

    Click on the 'Associate' button and select the portfolio to which the project belongs.

    Requester

    The person who is requesting the project. By default name of the person who is creating the project.

    Project Manager

    Person, who project manager role, assigned to the project.

    Start Date

    Start date of the project.

    End Date

    The tentative date on which the project is expected to close.

  3. Click Save. The new project is created and opened in Draft status.

To create a new project using a template

  1. Log in Agility Suite application and select Create > Project.
  2. On the Create Project page, click Select Template
  3. On the Select Project Template page, select a template from the list and click Select.
  4. Review the values, which are copied from the template, for the following fields: 

    Field Labels

    Description

    Template

    Name of the template selected. 

    Demand Summary

    Summary copied from the template.

    Description

    Description copied from the template.

    Attachments

    You can associate attachments which can be used as detailed information about the project.

    Behaviour

    Type of project copied from template: Agile or Phased. It is not possible to modify this value.

    Associate Portfolio 

    Click on the 'Associate' button and select the portfolio to which the project belongs.

    Requester

    The person who is requesting the project. 

    Project Manager

    Person, who project manager role, assigned to the project.

    Start Date

    Start date of the project.

    End Date

    The end date is populated automatically in order to the Duration of the template and start date.

  5. Click Save. The new project is created and opened in Plan/Prepare status. Sprints or Phases and Tasks are created in the project automatically from sprints, phases and tasks templates related to the project template.

To create a new project from the portfolio

  1. Log in to the Agility Suite application
  2. Navigate to Portfolios.
  3. To open a portfolio on the Portfolios workspace, click the required portfolio ID.
  4. Go to the Projects tab, and click +Project.
  5. On the Create Project blade page, enter the values for the following fields: 

    Field Labels

    Description

    Project Summary

    Name of Portfolio from you are creating the new project. You cannot modify this value. 

    Requester

    The person who is requesting the project. By default name of the person who is creating the project.

    Project Manager

    Person, who project manager role, assigned to the project.

    Start Date

    Start date of the project.

    End Date

    The tentative date on which the project is expected to close.

  6. Click Save. The new project is created in Draft status.
