Creating ideas
This topic guides you on how to submit new ideas. For a quick introduction and life cycle of Idea Management, you can refer to Idea Management Overview. These operations can be performed by Idea Contributors.
To create a new idea from BMC Helix Digital Workplace
- Log in to BMC Helix Digital Workplace and navigate to the Idea tab.
- The Idea Management Console will be displayed where all existing ideas created by other contributors are listed. Click on the Create New Idea button.
On the Create Idea page, enter the values for the following fields:

Idea Summary
Enter a Summary of an idea that can describe what the intention behind this idea is.
Portfolio
A Portfolio is a Collection of Projects, that facilitates effective management meeting the needs which are related to strategic Business Objectives.
Idea Contributor needs to describe which product business objective will be achieved by this idea.
Attachments
Idea Contributor can associate attachments that may have any use case to understand the clear picture.
Description
This is a special type of field which supports basic formatting, images, tables, and hyperlink.
Idea Contributor can enter details of the idea.
Benefits
This is a special type of field which supports basic formatting, images, tables, and hyperlink.
Idea Contributor can enter benefits of the idea which will be achieved once this idea is implemented.
Problem Solved
This is a special type of field which supports basic formatting, images, tables, and hyperlink.
Idea Manager should list the problems which this idea will resolve.
- Click Save. A new idea is created in the Idea Management Console of BMC Helix Digital Workplace.
To create a new idea from Agility Suite
- Log in Agility Suite application and select Create > Idea.
On the Create Idea page, enter the values for the following fields:

- Click Save. The new idea is opened. The status of the idea is Below Review Threshold status.
