Portfolio Management Console
Introduction to Portfolio Management
- Portfolio Management services give you a single point of view of Ideas, Requirements, Demands, and Projects.
- The "Portfolio" Manager is responsible for making investment decisions which can meet customers long-term financial objective which also takes care of organization Goals.
- Portfolio Management Console is a Collection of Portfolios that facilitates effective management to meet Needs that are related to strategic Business Objectives. The Portfolio Management Console on process implements a correct prioritization and selection in identifying:
- Goals related business objectives
- Has one to many Projects.
- Has a dedicated Manager.
Portfolio Manager can see/create New Projects, Demands, Requirements, Ideas, and Tickets.

How to create a Portfolio from Portfolio Management Console
- Login to Fusion Agility Suite and navigate to Create tab.
- Click on Create>Portfolio (Can be done by Portfolio Manager and Portfolio Master)
- Dialog of creating a portfolio will be displayed.

Summary(required)
Enter a Summary of Portfolio which will describe the objective.
Description
The Portfolio Manager can enter details of the objective, goal which will be fulfilled by addressing this Portfolio.
This is a special type of field which supports basic formatting, images, tables, hyperlink.
Attachments
Attachments or any information to be associated with this Portfolio.
Portfolio Manager(required)
The default will be Portfolio Manager. We can re-assign by selecting an Associate button.
(Clear buttons clear the existing Portfolio Manager.)
IT Service
This field helps to view and process data of ITSM and CMDB which needs to configured.
One IT Service can only be associated with one Portfolio. For example, Portfolio Service Desk has IT Service "Helix Service" associated then Portfolio Change Management cannot have the similar getting associated.
Idea Review Threshold
Minimum and Maximum value which serves as a benchmark for comparison.
The default value is 100.
Visible in BMC Helix Digital Workplace(required)
Yes/No
If you select Yes, this Portfolio will be displayed in BMC Helix Digital Workplace.
If selected No while creating an idea this Portfolio will not be listed in BMC Helix Digital Workplace.
The default value is “No”
- Click on the Save action button to save the portfolio.
- A new portfolio will be created in Portfolio Management Console and it will appear in the Workspace tab as shown in the following image:
- Once Portfolio has been created the status of the Portfolio will be in RAMP UP.
How to edit a Portfolio
- Select a Portfolio from Workspace console – Portfolio will be open in reading mode.
- Click on the Edit link as highlighted below:
- The below screen will be displayed once the Edit link is clicked.

The Portfolio Manager has control of this field. Based upon the data which will be entered for the Portfolio Status life cycle will proceed.

This is a Selection field where the list of all statuses will be displayed. The field will only be enabled if the status is selected.
IT Service
This needs to be configured.

The Portfolio Manager can mention the Budget amount which will be used for covering expenses.

Edit Portfolio - Project Console
- Project console helps Portfolio Manager/Master in adding New projects which consist of Tasks, Deliverables to achieve in desired time.
- Click on the “+Project” link to Create New Project.

- Click on +Requirement to add a new requirement for Portfolio. The create requirement screen will look below:

- Once the requirement is created it is displayed in the console below:
- After selecting the created new requirement “+Create Project Task” is enabled. “+Create Project Task” helps in adding a new task for Requirement. The requirement should be "In Backlog" status for Task to be added.
- Once you click on “Create Project Tasks” the “Select Project” screen will be displayed where the corresponding Project will be selected, and Task is added for that requirement.
- Projects with DRAFT status will not be displayed. New Tasks will only get added when Project is in Plan/Prepare.
- The Project Manager needs to assign this Task post which Assignee of this Task will update the required corresponding fields.
- Added Task to the requirement looks below:
- Once Task is added to the requirement it goes "In Project" status.
Edit Portfolio - Demand Console
- This console will help the Portfolio Manager/Master to see/add New demands. Click on “+Demand” to create New demand. Create Demand screen will be displayed below:

- Click on the Save action button for Demand to be saved.
Edit Portfolio - Idea Console
- Here, the Portfolio Manager can see ideas associated with this Portfolio.
- Portfolio Manager can click and see the idea details. Vote up and Down can be done for the selected idea.
- +Idea will help in creating a new idea.
Edit Portfolio - Ticket Console
- ITSM and CMDB tickets can be seen in this console. This console will only appear if IT Service is configured while creating Portfolio.
Details and Activities
- Details Tab shows the details about what is this Portfolio and Portfolio Manager assigned.
- The activities tab shows all the details on who posted comments/questions on the Portfolio. Logged in user can also add any attachments or notes for more information. If the added post is made public, then it can be seen by all users. But if the added post is not made Public it can only be seen by admin users.
Permissions -
- Functional Role is a collection of multiple application roles. It allows the user to work on multiple applications without mapping multiple groups to the application roles and assigning these multiple groups to the user.
- Portfolio Master is a functional role and Portfolio Manager, Project Master, Project Manager, Demand Manager, and Idea Manager are groups inheriting Portfolio Master.
- Portfolio Master is the persona who needs to do multiple roles in Fusion Agility Suite.
