Introduction of Idea Management
- Idea Management is the process of capturing, evaluating, and prioritizing ideas and feedback.
- Idea management is a tool that helps organizations to gather ideas from their employees, customers, partners evaluate those ideas, and deploy them to the market faster and increase productivity. This way decentralized innovation culture is promoted within the organization.

How to create an idea from BMC Helix Digital Workplace by Idea Contributor
- Log in to BMC Helix Digital Workplace and navigate to the Idea tab.
- Click on the Idea tab – The Idea console will be displayed where all existing ideas created by other contributors are displayed. Click on Create New Idea action button -
- Dialog of creating idea will be displayed. Enter the required parameters:

Portfolio
A Portfolio is a Collection of Projects, that facilitates effective management meeting the needs which are related to strategic Business Objectives.
Idea Contributor needs to describe which product business objective will be achieved by this idea.
Attachments
Idea Contributor can associate attachments that may have any use case to understand the clear picture.
Description
This is a special type of field which supports basic formatting, images, tables, hyperlink.
Idea Contributor can enter details of the idea.
Benefits
This is a special type of field which supports basic formatting, images, tables, hyperlink.
Idea Contributor can enter benefits of the idea which will be achieved once this idea is implemented.

- Click on Save to save the idea. A new idea will be created in the Idea Console of BMC Helix Digital Workplace and it will appear in the Idea tab as shown in the following image:
Once the idea is created the status of the idea will be "Below Review Threshold"
How to Edit Idea - BMC Helix Digital Workplace as an Idea Contributor
- Log in to BMC Helix Digital Workplace and navigate to the Idea tab. Click on the Idea tab – The Idea console will be displayed where all existing ideas created by other contributors are displayed.
- Click on Idea>Select any idea to be edited.
Dialog of edit idea will be displayed. Click on the Edit link:

Operations for Idea Contributor on Idea Console of BMC Helix Digital Workplace
- Idea Contributor will be able to see ideas in Idea Management Console for the company which idea contributor logged in.
- Idea Contributor will be allowed to Vote Up or Vote Down his/her idea and all the ideas present in Idea Management Console.
- Only allowed to edit ideas entered by him/her.
- Idea Contributor can also add comments in the Activity Log section. Can write on the “Add a note” section.
- Click on Post to Post the added comment.
How to create an idea from BMC Helix Innovation Studio - Idea Management via Idea Contributor
- Login to Fusion Agility Suite via "https://CUSTOMER URL/innovationsuite/index.html#/com.fusiongbs.agility-suite" and navigate to Create tab.
- Click on Create>Idea. Dialog to create a new idea will be displayed.

How to edit an idea from Innovation Studio
Click on the idea from the Workspace console – Idea will be open in edit mode.
Click on the edit link Idea will get open for editing. Fields that will be edited are:

- Click on the Save action button to save the changes.
Further Operations on Idea
- Once Idea Manager logins to Fusion Agility Suite and clicks on the idea, the below screen will be displayed.
- Idea Manager can edit ideas and can also Accept or Reject them. Idea Manager can also see the Vote History, Activity Log Tab on the idea Edit view.
- Vote History will show voting done by Contributors and Managers.
- Activity Log will display all the activities performed by various Contributors and Managers. Idea Manager can “Add a note” and make it public for all to see the comments/notes.
- Review Threshold on idea console is the threshold set for Vote Count. By default, for all ideas, the Review Threshold is set to “100” which means if Vote Count matches Review Threshold then the idea automatically goes into the “Under Review” state. The below screenshot is an example where Review Threshold has matched the Idea Vote Count post which Idea has gone in "Under Review" state.
- Review Threshold can be configured while creating Portfolios by Portfolio Manager. Below is the screenshot of “Create Portfolio”.
- Once Idea Manager clicks on Accept action button "Accept Idea" screen will be displayed.
- An Idea can be accepted with either Demand or Requirement.
- If Idea gets accepted as Demand, a new Demand will be created.
- If Idea gets accepted as Requirement, a new Requirement is created.
- Once Accepted, idea goes in In Backlog State. The idea view from DWP, once an idea is accepted.
- If idea is Accepted as Requirement, Requirement Life Cycle is followed and if idea is Accepted as Demand, Demand Life Cycle is followed.
- An idea can be Rejected as well. If an idea is Rejected, an appropriate Status Reason should be selected along with the Rejection Reason to be mentioned in comments.
- Once any of the life cycles (Requirement/Demand) are completed, the idea goes into a Delivered state.
Next steps after Idea goes in In Backlog state
- If an idea is accepted with Requirement follow Requirement Life Cycle.
- If an idea is accepted with Demand follow Demand Life Cycle.
