Demand Management Console
Introduction to Demand Management
- Demand Management is a planning methodology used to forecast, plan for, and manage the demand for products and services.
- Demand Management has a proactive process, which can be used as a strategy while addressing/analyzing/collecting new ideas. The process implements a correct prioritization and selection in identifying:
- Objectives and requirements
- Strategic alignment
- Scheduling
- Budget and source of funding
- Level of risk
- Impact on the Organization
- Pre-requisites
- Demand Management's final output will be contained in a single database, as this data will be used many times from now until the implementation.

Create a new Demand
- Login to Fusion Agility Suite and navigate to Create tab.
- Click on Create>Demand
Dialog of creating demand will be displayed. Specify the following information:

Enter a Summary of Demand which can describe the intention behind this Demand.

Project, Portfolio
A Portfolio is a Collection of Projects, Ideas, Requirements, or other work that facilitates effective management of that to meet Needs to be related to strategic Business Objectives.
Demand Contributor needs to describe which business objective will be achieved by this demand.
Project Management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, techniques to meet certain requirements.
Once Demand Contributor selects Project or Portfolio Demand once approved, will be tracked by that type.
e.g., If Demand Contributor select Type as “Project” once Demand is Approved, it will be tracked via Project Life Cycle.
Total Risk (required)
The total risk of demand is 5, by default if no risks have been added.
The key figure is always measured against the highest risk for the demand.
Attachments
Demand Contributor can associate attachments, videos that will be in use to understand the demand.
Description
This is a special type of field which supports basic formatting, images, tables, hyperlink.
Demand Contributor can enter details of the Demand or can add details if the Demand is generated from an idea.
General - Portfolio (required)
A Portfolio is a Collection of Projects, that facilitates effective management meeting the needs which are related to strategic Business Objectives.
Demand Contributors need to describe which product business objective will be achieved by this demand.
General - Strategy
It is a long-term plan on what to do to achieve a certain goal.
Demand contributors can mention the details here as part of the Demand which will achieve the Product/Organization goal.
General – Start Date
Tentative Start Date can be entered
General – Target Date
Tentative Target Date of completion can be entered
General – Goal
Goals are the specific objectives for an organization for a specific period.
Demand Contributor can specify here which goal will be achieved as a part of the Demand.
General – Corporate Alignment
Strategic, Operational
Strategic alignment means that all elements of a business-like market strategy are arranged in such a way as to best support the fulfillment of its long-term purpose.
Operational Alignment means when people, systems, processes, and technology are properly positioned to support your strategies which in turn support your overall mission and goals.
Business Case – Justification
Demand Contributor should mention the reason and valid points from a business point of view which will give result in favor of organization goals.
Business Case – Impact
Run, Reinvent.
Run means Investments to maintain existing business.
Reinvent means Business arguments that support demands.
Here, analysis of functions and assess the risks of this Demand

This will have the list of organizations the companies.

Business Case – In Scope
Business scope is combined objectives and requirements which are needed to complete the project.
Demand Contributor can define the scope of this Demand.
Business Case – Out of Scope
Any work which can go beyond the current scope should be defined for this Demand while taking into consideration.
Business Case – Key Exception
This will have key measures list which should be addressed to avoid the major impact.
Financial – Total Cost
It will be calculated based on the resources amount and its recurring amount monthly.
- Below is the screenshot of demand: General tab where Demand contributor can define goal, strategy, priority, tentative dates.
- Business Case: where Demand contributor can define the scope of demand, justification, risks
- Financial - Total Cost will be automatically calculated based on the required resources.
- Save action button to save the demand.
- New demand will be created in Demand Management Console and it will appear in the Workspace tab as shown in the following image:
- Once Demand is created it`s in Draft status.
Edit Demand
- Click on-demand from Workspace console – Edit button is highlighted. Click on Edit to open demand in Edit mode.
The below screen will be displayed once Edit is clicked.
Fields that will be allowed to edit are:

This is a Selection field where the list of all statuses will be displayed.
Demand Manager has control over this field. Based upon the data which will be entered for the Demand Status life cycle will proceed.
Type (required)
Project, Portfolio
A Portfolio is a Collection of Projects, that facilitates effective management meeting the needs which are related to strategic Business Objectives.
Demand Contributor needs to describe which product business objective will be achieved by this demand.
Project Management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, techniques to meet certain requirements.
Value
The value of demand is to be seen as a ranking. This key figure from 0.0 to 10.0 is used to represent its cost-benefit ratio.
Status Reason (required)
This is a Selection field where the list of all statuses will be displayed. The field will only be enabled only if Demand is Cancelled, Rejected.
Priority (required)
Critical, High, Medium, Low
Important
The urgency is defined from 0.00 (non-urgent) to 10.0 (very urgent) and describes how quickly the demand must be evaluated or realized.
Corporate Alignment
Strategic, Operational
Strategic alignment means that all elements of a business-like market strategy are arranged in such a way as to best support the fulfillment of its long-term purpose.

- Click the Save action button for changes to be saved.
Edit Demand - Requirement Console
- This console helps in adding new requirements. Click on +Add Requirement to create a new requirement.

- Click on Save to save the requirement. Requirement added gets displayed in the requirement console.
Edit Demand - Risk Console
- Risk needs to be defined in the demand (required) and there are multiple ways to mitigate the same.
- Click on +Add Risk to add a new risk for Demand. Create Risk screen below:

- Click on the Save action button to save the added risk. Once risk is added is it displayed in the Risk console below.
- Out of all risks added highest calculated risk is always taken into consideration for "Total Risk".
- For Demand Approval from all the stakeholders, all risks should be Mitigated or Accepted. (If any of the risks is not Mitigated or Accepted state, Demand cannot go in "Assessed" state)
Edit Demand - Stakeholder Console
- The Stakeholder is the persona, who holds the authority to approve/reject the demand. Once the required stakeholder approves the demand, demand gets converted into a Project or Portfolio automatically. Click on "Add Stakeholder"
Create a new stakeholder. The screen looks below:

Edit Demand - Resource Console
- Here, the Demand Manager adds resources that are required to address this demand. A Resource helps in calculating the amount required in calculating the Total cost of demand.
- Click on "+Add Resource" to add a new resource.

- Once resources are added they will be displayed like below:
Next Steps for Demand after Draft State
- Demand contributor marks it as Requested, where contributor wants Demand Manager to start analyzing the Demand. This state of the Demand life cycle where Demand contributor and Manager both can work actively on the demand.
- Demand Manager adds Requirements, Risk, Stakeholder, Resource once Demand is in Investigation state. Once Demand goes into Investigation stage, Demand Contributor cannot add, modify anything. His/her role ends once Demand goes into the Investigation stage.
- Once all sub-entities are added Demand Manager puts Demand in Assessed State. This state is where Demand seeks approval from stakeholders and is in Waiting for Approval State. The below screenshot shows where Demand is Waiting for Approval.
- Assigned stakeholder needs to check the Approval console and then Approve/Reject the Demand. The below screenshot shows the Approval console where Demand is waiting for Approval.
- If Stakeholders approve the Demand, Demand goes in Approved State and a new Project or Portfolio is created and Project or Portfolio Life Cycle is followed. The below screenshot show Demand once Approved has resulted in a new Portfolio. A new Portfolio is created, and Demand goes in the Completed state. Once Demand is Approved no further operations are allowed.
Similar way Demand can also result in the new Project post which Project Life cycle will be followed.
More information on Demand -
- Demands which get created via idea go in the Requested State. The below screenshot shows how we can "View Idea" which is associated with that Demand.
- Demand can also result in a new Project. The below screenshot shows Demand which is Approved resulted in a new Project.
- Demand can go Pending state from Draft, Requested, Investigation status with below reasons - Business Justification, Circumstances Changed, Customer Hold, Financial Hold. The below screenshot shows Demand in the Pending state. From Pending Demand can go back to status starting Draft whichever is suitable.
- If Demand is Rejected by stakeholders, Demand goes Rejected state with a status reason as "Rejected by Stakeholders".

Personas in Demand Management
Demand Contributor has access to BMC Helix Digital Workplace and Fusion Agility Suite application. Demand Contributor can create new demand from Fusion Agility Suite Application. and can edit till the Requested state of the Demand life cycle. Once Demand goes in Investigation state Demand Contributor cannot update the Demand further.
Demand Contributor also has access to creating ideas from BMC Helix Digital Workplace and Fusion Agility Suite. Can view, vote, add activity notes in ideas created by him/her and by other contributors as well.
The Demand Manager can create new demands, edit demands created by him/her, and demand where he/she is the Demand Manager. While creating new Demand, selection of Portfolio is mandatory hence Demand gets assigned to the Portfolio Manager working on that Portfolio.
Demand Manager can also create new ideas from BMC Helix Digital Workplace and Fusion Agility Suite. Can view, vote, add activity notes in ideas created by him/her and other contributors as well.
