Testing environments
This topic contains information about BSM Interoperability and BSM Reference Stack testing environments.
The Infrastructure Stack of BSM Reference Stack is the basis of the test environment for BSM Interoperability and the BSM Reference Stack.
BSM Reference Stack
BSM Reference Stack recommendations:
- Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5
- SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition
Tested database configurations
BSM Interoperability was tested using the following database configurations:
- TCP/IP was used for database connectivity
- The default ports were used.
- The number of database servers and instances to create in order to build the BSM Interoperability stack was organized by solution and product.
- Databases exist on their own servers separate from applications.
- Internal database authentication/security was used.
- The database servers had a minimum of 50 to 75 GB available disk space.
- For optimal performance, consider deploying the databases on physical servers (although they can be virtualized).
Other testing configuration details
The following list provides additional information related to the tested configuration:
- For BMC Remedy AR System and BMC Atrium Core, BMC recommends installing the products on a minimum of three servers. (This configuration is suited for a POC setup in the BSM Interoperability lab. For other considerations, consult the documentation for each product).
- One server for BMC Atrium Web Services and Atrium Integrator
- One server for BMC Remedy Mid Tier
- One server for the base BMC Remedy AR System and BMC Atrium Core web server
- For BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management:
- BMC used the Small Deployment option of the installation planner.
- The computers had FTP ports enabled for the installation planner to install the RSCD agents.
