Networking settings for users of BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management virtual image templates


The following settings apply to users of the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 2.x virtual image templates. They do not apply if you are building your own stack.

Microsoft Windows settings

The following tables provide the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management environment settings and installation prerequisites for Microsoft Windows.

  • Check /etc/hosts files for any rogue entries.
  • Add all VMs in the current reference stack to the hosts file on each system.

  • BCAN_USER must be added and configured.
  • The BCAN database must be created before the installation.

Linux settings

The following tables provide the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management environment settings and installation prerequisites for Linux.

  • Add hostname in /etc/sysconfig/network.
  • In /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-etho, add the following lines (the first three lines might already be present):

    DHCP_HOSTNAME \\
     DEVICE=eth0 \\
     ONBOOT=yes \\
     BOOTPROTO=dhcp \\
     DHCP_HOSTNAME=<new host name>
  • Check /etc/hosts files for any rogue entries.
  • Add all VMs to the /etc/hosts files for the reference stack being configured.
