Integration optimization and efficiency improvements

The following enhancements are introduced in BMC Service Resolution 3.0 to facilitate easy and efficient integration between event monitoring and incident management applications.

Note

Starting with this release, Integration for BMC Remedy Service Desk is no longer used for integration. A new integration gateway is used instead. However, some of the UI labels and file names still use the term "iBRSD."

Enhancement

Description

A new integration mechanism to integrate event monitoring with incident management

A new BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management/BMC ProactiveNet integration gateway is introduced to integrate event monitoring with incident management. Using this integration mechanism, you can propagate cell events coming from event monitoring and create incidents in the incident management application.

Benefits of the new integration gateway are:

  • Supports multithreaded architecture
  • Ensures performance improvement in incident creation.
  • Enables service-oriented architecture
  • Enables web service based integration, which is beneficial if you have a SaaS setup
Eliminate dependency on BMC Remedy AR System forms

With the introduction of new architecture, you no longer need AR System forms for performing configurations. For example, the INT:Staging form is no longer used for event preprocessing activities.

This enhancement has the following benefits:

  • The preprocessing tasks such as event enrichment prior to incident creation take place in BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management instead of the INT:Staging form.
  • Performance improvement for incident creation. With the new Java-based architecture, you can create 60-65 incidents per minute depending upon your setup.
  • Interdependency between versions and extensions is removed.

Note

If you have customizations on the INT:Staging form, ensure that you migrate those customizations to the new HPD:ServiceInterface form.

Tight integration between event monitoring and incident management

With the introduction of a new HPD:ServiceInterface form and the exposed HPD_IncidentServiceInterface web service, a reliable and efficient integration between event monitoring and incident management has been established. For more information, see Integrating-BMC-TrueSight-Infrastructure-Management-with-BMC-Service-Desk-Incident-Management.

A new UI to create and manage service policies

You can now create and manage service policies in BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management/BMC ProactiveNet Operations Console. A new interface is provided to create, edit, and delete the policies. For more information, see Managing-service-policies.

Ability to perform pre-processing tasks in the event monitoring application

With BMC Service Resolution 3.0, preprocessing tasks such as event filtering, event enrichment, attribute mappings, customizations, and so on are performed in an event monitoring application such as BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management/BMC ProactiveNet rather than in Incident Management.
