Installing BMC Service Resolution 3.0 for BMC Control-M Workload Automation


This topic provides information about installing BMC Service Resolution 3.0 for BMC Control-M Workload Automation.

Before you begin

Ensure that the following are installed:

  • BMC Control-M Enterprise Manager
  • BMC Remedy ITSM system
  • BMC Service Resolution 3.0 for BMC Remedy ITSM
  • Web services on the BMC Remedy Mid Tier are published
  • Before installing CtmTicket, install and configure EM API on the BMC Control-M system
  • BMC recommends that the EM API is installed and configured in the %EM_HOME%\ctmticket directory.
Warning

Notes

  • Set the EM_HOME environment variable to the <Control-M_patchInstallFolder\Default folder.
  • In the Examples folder in the API distribution folder, you can find sample XML documents that contain invalid passwords. You can safely remove the invalid passwords before using these files. Similarly, the sample keystore password in the jacorb.properties file is used with SSL communications and can be safely ignored or blanked in the file before use.

The following files are required for installing the patch:

  • (Windows) emapi-800-nt.zip and Release.0.2.9.zip

To install BMC Service Resolution 3.0 for BMC Control M Workload Automation

  1. Go to the <BSR_installationFolder>Disk1/Utilities folder.
  2. Unzip the Release.0.2.9.zip folder.
  3. In the unzipped folders that you see, unzip the Release.0.2.9.zip subfolder.
  4. Install the EM API.
  5. Configure the EM API installation. For complete installation and configuration instructions, see the attached PDF.
  6. To install CtmTicket, copy the Release.0.2.9.zip/ctmticket folder in a folder called ctmticket within the emapi-800 folder.  
  7. Copy the jacorb.properties file from the <Control-M_patchInstallFolder>\Default\emapi-800 folder to the <Control-M_patchInstallFolder>\Default\emapi-800\ctmticket folder.
  8. Set the passwords with the help of the two scripts:SetControlMPassword and SetRemedyPassword, which are located at <Control-M_patchInstallFolder>\Default\emapi-800\ctmticket\bin.  At the command prompt, go to <Control-M_patchInstallFolder>\Default\emapi-800\ctmticket and run bin\SetControlMPassword and bin\SetRemedyMPassword commands. The passwords are encrypted in the file.

  9. In the ctmticket/etc/ctmticket.properties file, perform the following configurations:
    • Set REMEDYHOME to point to the AR System server host.
    • Set REMEDYURL to point to the mid tier arsys path.
    • Set WSDLURL to point to HPD:IncidentServiceInterface.
    • Set CTMGUISERVER to point to the Control-M GUI server.
    • Set hostname:8080 to point to the name and port number of the AR System server endpoint.

      Warning

      Note

      When setting the host name, ensure that you do not add any extra leading or trailing white space to the host name.

  10. Verify that all required configurations are complete:

    Control-M EM parameters

    • SendAlarmtoScript – Must be set to the path of the activation script in the bin directory – ctmticket.bat.
      For a Windows setup, a helper script called shortname.vbs – provides the full path name in 8.3 format to be inserted into the Control-M parameter.
    • SendSnmp – Must be given the value 1 or 2
