Downloading the installation files

This topic explains how to download the required files for installing the BMC Remedy ITSM - Mobility server.

Files to download

You will download an archive that contains all of the necessary installation files for your product, version, and platform. For example, to support Incident Management on Windows computers, download the BMCMobilityServiceDesk_7.6.07_windows.zip archive, which contains the following files:

  • BMCMobilityServerWindows.zip contains the server installer.
  • ClientDistribution.zip contains files for companies that want to package the BMC Remedy ITSM - Mobility: Service Desk 7.6.07 for Incident Management application using their own Apple developer certificate.
  • Workflow.zip contains the workflow to be installed to BMC Remedy Action Request System server by an administrator.
Warning

Note

Each of the following product folders on the Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) site contain identical installation files for BMC Mobility for Remedy ITSM 7.6.07. The files contain everything necessary for a complete installation, even though they have product-specific names:

  • BMC Mobility for BMC Remedy Service Desk
  • BMC Mobility for BMC Remedy Change Approvals

You can also download BMCRemedyITSMMobility_ServiceDesk_7 6 07_doc.zip, which contains the offline documentation for BMC Remedy ITSM - Mobility: Service Desk 7.6.07. This is a snapshot of the documentation when the product was released. For the latest documentation, go to https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/mobitsm7607.

To download the installation files

  1. Create a directory in which to place the downloaded files.

    Warning

    Note

On Microsoft Windows computers, ensure that the directory is only one level into the directory structure. The EPD package creates a directory in the temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that contains the installation image should not be in a directory deeper than two levels into the directory structure.

  2. Go to http://www.bmc.com/available/epd.html.
  3. At the logon prompt, enter your user ID and password, and click Submit.
  4. On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, agree to the terms of the agreements, and click Continue.
  5. Click the Profiles tab.
  6. If you are accessing this site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the languages and platforms that you want to see, as explained in the EPD site help; otherwise, skip to step 7.
  7. Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose, and select the Licensed Products tab.
  8. Open the folder for the product. For BMC Mobility for Remedy ITSM 7.6.07, you can open either one of the following folders to obtain all of the files necessary for a complete installation:
    • BMC Mobility for BMC Remedy Service Desk
    • BMC Mobility for BMC Remedy Change Approvals
  9. Open the subfolder for the version that you want to download, such as BMC Mobility for BMC Remedy Service Desk 7.6.07.
  10. Select the check boxes next to the installation files, documentation, and technical bulletins that you need to download.
  11. Click Download (FTP) or Download Manager:
    • Download (FTP) places the selected items in an FTP directory, and the credentials and FTP instructions are sent to you in an e-mail message.
    • Download Manager enables you to download multiple files consecutively, and to resume an interrupted download if the connection drops.
This method requires a one-time installation of the Akami NetSession client program on the target computer and is usually the faster and more reliable way to transfer files. A checksum operation is used to verify file integrity automatically.
