Selecting an IT department budget

Use this procedure to select the IT department budget and the planning scenario that you want to view in the IT Department Budget portlet.

To select an IT department budget

  1. In the title bar of the IT Department Budget portlet, click Edit.
  2. In the Title field of the Edit IT Department Budget Settings window, enter a new title if you want to change the default portlet title to something more descriptive.
  3. In the IT Department  field, perform the following:
    1. Click Select and select the IT Department that you want to view.
    2. Click Save.
  4. In the Planning Scenario  field, perform the following actions:
    1. Click Select and select the Planning Scenario that you want to view.
    2. Click Save.
  5. Use the Include Sub IT Department Units  list box to include levels of rolled-up subdepartment budgets.
    • Selecting None displays the financial information only for the IT Department that you selected. This financial information is a roll-up of that IT department's budget with all IT budgets that hierarchically report up to that department.
    • Selecting 1  displays financial information for the IT department that you selected and any IT departments that report directly into that IT department.

      Warning

      Note

Only three levels are possible for roll-up in this portlet.

  6. Click either the Expense and Depreciation or Capital option for the type of budget information that you want to view.
  7. Click Save.

The IT Department Budget portlet displays four columns of information: IT Department (name), Budget to Date, Actuals to Date, and Variance. Budget to Date displays those items within the planning scenario to date. The amounts shown are a roll-up of the levels of the subdepartment budgets. For example, a second-level budget displays an amount that is a total of the level-three budgets below it plus its own budget. A first-level budget displays an amount that is the total of the level-three and level-two budgets below it plus its own budget.
