Linking changes related to releases to projects

A release might involve multiple changes that are recorded in BMC Change Management System. When you link to releases to a project that you manage in BMC IT Business Management Suite, you can additionally choose to link to operational changes that are related to these releases. As a project manager, it provides visibility into relevant change requests that impact a release related to a project.

Note

Although you can search for and link to changes related to a release from BMC IT Business Management Suite, the relationship between changes and releases is maintained in BMC Change Management application. After you link changes related to a release to a project, any update in the relationship criteria in BMC Change Management application is not displayed in BMC IT Business Management Suite.

To link to changes related to a release

  1. In the Project Details window, click on the Change and Release tab.
  2. Click on the Related Releases option.
  3. In the Related Releases pane, click on the Link Changes option in the Actions column.

  4. In the Link Changes window the release ID is pre-populated. To search changes related to this release, click on the Search button.
     A list of changes corresponding to the search criteria is displayed. 

    Warning

    Note

    The search results do not include the changes that you have already linked to the project.

  5. Select one or more changes by selecting the check box in the Link column.
  6. To add the changes to the project, click on the Link option.
     The linked changes are displayed in the Related Changes pane.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
