Managing tasks and related resources


The ability to track and manage human resources for projects gives both project managers and resource managers additional information insight into resource requests so that available resources can be assigned to the highest priority, most valuable activities.

enables person-level resource planning, task assignments, and work management. Project managers can select resources by name or category for specified tasks, get confirmation from the resource manager, track the actuals from timecard entries, and compare the actuals to the planned resources. Resource managers can approve, decline, or substitute requested resources, and manage the work load.

for Project Tasks is as follows:

  1. Project managers creates Project work Tasks.
  2. Project managers request resources (IT Staff) by name or category.
  3. Resource managers receive the Resource Requests.
  4. Resource managers view the distribution of department resources by assignment and identify available resources.
  5. Resource managers respond to the requests with one of the following actions:
    • Assigns a resource
    • Reserves the resource
    • Substitutes another resource to fill the request
    • Declines the request
  6. Once the resource manager assigns resources to tasks, each task is sent to the assigned resource. The system sents notification to the person assigned to the staff and the requesting project manager.
     Project managers can edit or update the original plan, and both plans can be viewed.
