Creating dynamic project portfolios

When you create a dynamic Project Portfolio, you select from the available filtering options. The Projects that are included in a dynamic Project Portfolio may vary from one point in time to another. When you view the details of a dynamic Project Portfolio, the Projects displayed depend on which Projects meet your selected criteria at that point in time. Your Project Portfolio can be as narrow or broad as you define it. Experiment with filter options to get a precise subset of Projects.

To create a new project portfolio

  1. In either the Project Portfolios window or the Project Portfolio Details window, click New.
Alternatively, you can click New Project Portfolio in the Projects window.
The New Project Portfolio window is displayed.
  2. In the Name field, specify a name for the Project Portfolio.
  3. If you have Edit permission for {{Public Project Portfolios,}}select the Published check box to make this Project Portfolio available globally.
You can also save the Project Portfolio now and publish it later.
  4. To make this a dynamic Project Portfolio, select the Dynamic Portfolio check box.
When you select Dynamic Portfolio, the screen changes to include filtering options.
  5. Enter or make selections in as many fields as you need to create the Project Portfolio you need.
To be included in the Project Portfolio:
    • A Project must meet one of multiple selection criteria within a filtering option field.
    • A Project must meet all selection criteria across the filtering option fields.
As you enter selections in more filtering option fields, the focus of the filter becomes narrower. If no Project meets your criteria when you apply the filter, enter selections in fewer filtering option fields.
In the Benefiting Organizational Unit chooser and the Responsible Organizational Unit chooser, you will be able to select only from those Organizational Units for which you are a member of a group that has ITBM Project Viewer permission.
