Editing IT staff
You can specify the basic information about IT staff members when you add them by using the BMC Remedy AR System Administration Console. However, you can specify additional information by editing the IT staff details in BMC IT Business Management Suite.
To edit IT Staff
In the IT Staff Details window or on the corresponding row in the Actions column in the IT Staff Browse or Search window, click Edit.
The Edit IT Staff Member window opens as it is shown in the following figure.Edit the information in any available fields. For descriptive information about the fields, refer to the following table.

Alternate Email Address
Identifies an alternate email address for this IT staff member.
Manager
Establishes a relationship between this IT staff member and the manager you select.
Resource Managers
Establishes a relationship between this IT staff member and the IT staff members who can assign tasks to him/her. If this field is left blank, it is automatically populated with the name of the manager selected in the previous field.
Contractor
Contractor VendorIdentifies whether this person is a contractor.
If you select Contractor, the Contractor Vendor field appears. Click Edit and select a Vendor; then click Save to close the chooser.Default = cleared
Active
Identifies whether this person's status is currently active.
If this check box is cleared, no timecards will be generated for this individual, regardless of any timecarding settings.Default = selected
IT Staff Member
Identifies this person as an IT staff member
If you clear this check box, the window becomes a New Client window.Default = selected
Planned IT Staff Member
Identifies this person's position as planned, for budgeting purposes, but not yet hired.
If this check box is selected, no timecards will be generated for this individual, regardless of any timecarding settings.Default = cleared
Primary Organizational Unit
Establishes a relationship between this IT staff member and the organizational unit you select.
Job Category
Links this IT staff member with a job classification that is used in the BMC Demand and Resource Management module.
Site
Identifies the location at which this IT staff member works.

Capturing the relationships between IT staff and the organizational units they support enables you to align resources across the enterprise in concert with business priorities.Work Days
Specifies the days that this IT staff member works. If you select Use Custom in the Work Week Definition field, check boxes for the days of the week become available.
Work Week
Specifies the number of hours per week that this IT staff member works.
Project Availability
Specifies the number of hours per week that this IT staff member is available to work on projects.
Minimum Work Week
Specifies the minimum number of hours per week that this IT staff member can submit on a timecard.
Maximum Work Week
Specifies the maximum number of hours per week that this IT staff member can submit on a timecard.
Timecarding
Enables the timecarding feature. If timecarding is selected:
* Timecards will be created for this IT staff member, if timecarding has been enabled globally by an administrator-level user.
* The My Timecards link will appear on the left navigation bar of this IT staff member's user interface.
* The Timecard Approval field appears with three option buttons.Default = cleared
Timecard Only User
Specifies that this IT staff member can access only timecarding in the BMC IT Business Management Suite.
Timecard Approval
Appears only if timecarding is selected. Specifies the individual who approves this IT staff member's timecard.
* If you select Manager (the default value), the Manager field on this window becomes a required field.
* If you select No Approval Required, the timecards submitted by this IT staff member appear automatically as approved.
* If you select Specify Approver, the required Timecard Approver field appears. Click Edit and select the approver. Make sure that the person you select has appropriate permissions (usually, it is ITBM Client User or ITBM Administrator permission.) Click Save to close the chooser.Access Restrictions
Specifies the access groups or organizational units for which this IT person has data access. For more information about access restrictions, see Data-access-restrictions.
- Click Save to save your changes and exit the Edit IT Staff Member window.
