Business Processes Pillar
One axiom of IT management is that any solution is a mixture of the people, the process, and the technology. IT organizations tend to concentrate on the technology component, and that can lead to ineffective solutions or misperceptions of the services that IT provides to the enterprise. IT must understand the business goals and the underlying business processes to ensure that the technology delivered will meet the needs and the expectations of the organization. Otherwise, IT could be providing the wrong tools for the job.
The Business Processes Pillar includes enterprise processes, which are used by the larger organization, and IT processes, which are specific to the IT organization. To view and modify information in the Business Processes Pillar, select Business Processes on the left navigation bar under the Foundation heading. The Business Processes window appears and displays the Enterprise Processes tab and the IT Processes tab. For more information about enterprise processes, see Enterprise Processes. For more information about the IT processes, see IT Processes.
