Deployment use cases
A typical BMC IT Business Management Suite deployment involves three separate tiers as follows:
- A Database System. Like every typical enterprise application, BMC IT Business Management Suite requires a database system as the backend for storing and managing data. Two database platforms are supported: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and Oracle 11g R2. The Microsoft SQL Server can be installed on Windows systems only, while Oracle can be installed on Windows or Linux systems.
- BMC AR System. BMC IT Business Management Suite is tightly integrated with BMC Remedy Action Request (AR) System. BMC AR System must be installed first before installing BMC IT Business Management Suite. For additional components such as BMC CMDB, BMC Service Request Management (SRM), BMC Remedy Asset Management (AM), BMC Remedy Change Management (CM), see the Installing section.
- BMC IT Business Management Suite. BMC IT Business Management Suite includes multiple modules such as the BMC Demand and Resource Management module, BMC Financial Planning and Budgeting module, BMC Service Cost Management module, BMC Supplier Management module, IT Controls Management. All the modules are installed automatically by the BMC IT Business Management Suite installer.
The following figure illustrates the systems required for a complete BMC IT Business Management Suite environment. BMC IT Business Management Suite is an EJB-based application that runs on JBoss Application Server. Deploying BMC IT Business Management Suite consists of two parts: installing the BMC IT Business Management Suite core components and configuring the JBoss Application Server. BMC recommends installing JBoss on a dedicated server and the core components on the same system as the AR System.
