Architecture

You can install BMC IT Business Management Suite in two different configurations: typical (collocated with BMC Remedy IT Service Management database) and remote (non-collocated or federated databases). The typical architecture is reviewed briefly for context.

Typical (collocated) architecture

The BMC IT Business Management Suite is collocated (on a LAN) with the BMC IT Business Management Suite Application Server. The BMC IT Business Management Suite database schema is installed on the BMC Remedy AR System database server, as shown in the following figure:

Remote databases (federated databases) architecture

You can also deploy the databases for BMC IT Business Management Suite and BMC Remedy AR System in a non-collocated fashion. The main features of this hybrid deployment architecture are:

  • The BMC IT Business Management Suite Application Server and BMC IT Business Management Suite database server and schema are collocated.
  • The BMC Remedy AR System and BMC Remedy ITSM database server stack can be remote.
  • If integration with other BMC IT Business Management Suite products is needed, you must manually set up remote links between the BMC IT Business Management Suite database server and the BMC Remedy AR System database server.
  • BMC Atrium Integration Engine transfers data from BMC Remedy AR System into the BMC IT Business Management Suite database.

The following diagram illustrates the BMC IT Business Management Suite remote databases (non-collocated or federated databases) deployment architecture.
