Configuring Microsoft SQL Server

Ensure that your Microsoft SQL Server environment is set up as follows:

  • Install the extended stored procedures that implement distributed transaction and XA support for the Microsoft SQL Server JDBC Driver.
  • Enable the XA transactions on the computer where your BMC IT Business Management Suite database resides.
  • Install the MSSQL command client on the computer on which you are running the installation program. For more information about installing the MSSQL command client, see http://www.microsoft.com.
  • If you are using Microsoft SQL Server 2005, ensure that you have installed the most current service pack.

Also, purge the transaction log frequently to prevent it from filling up during installation.

If the database is configured to extend automatically, verify the following settings: * BMC Remedy AR System data file size: 1 GB or greater (2 GB recommended)

  • Log file size: 1 GB or greater

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
