Prerequisites for remote deployment
Remote deployment requires the prerequisites for a typical (collocated) deployment and the prerequisites listed in this topic. BMC IT Business Management Suite system dependencies (operating system, application servers, and so on) and its requirements for BMC Remedy IT Service Management are unchanged. For more information, see System-requirements.
The following prerequisites apply to remote deployments that use Oracle databases:
- If Red Hat JBoss Application Server is the BMC IT Business Management Suite application server, the following communication ports between BMC Remedy IT Service Management deployment and BMC IT Business Management Suite deployment must be open:
- For the BMC IT Business Management database server, port 1521 (Oracle); for the BMC Remedy AR System server, a port mapper - specified port or port specified during installation
- For the BMC Remedy AR System database server, port 1521 (Oracle); for the BMC IT Business Management application server, port 8080 or 9090
- To integrate the BMC Service Resource Management and BMC Demand and Resource Management systems, database links must be created between the two database servers for communication.
- The BMC IT Business Management Suite application server and the BMC IT Business Management Suite database server should be collocated, so that there is no significant network latency.
- On the BMC Remedy AR System server, the connection strings for establishing connections to the BMC IT Business Management Suite database must be added to the tnsnames.ora file. For example, if the BMC Remedy AR System server is named vw-pun-itm-dv02, and the BMC IT Business Management Suite server is named vm-w23-rds553, the tnsnames.ora file on the vw-pun-itm-dv02 server looks like the # tnsnames.ora network configuration file where # is generated by the Oracle configuration tools.
