Viewing import logs

Running the import process using either XML or staging tables generates a log and adds a line to the Import History section on the Import window. Before importing data, make sure all data is valid so that every object is processed. Otherwise, if data is invalid or not well formed, the process stops without processing any items (XML).

If validation fails for any object, the import continues and the system reports failures in the View Results window. The following errors can cause import failures:

  • XML structure is invalid
  • Object is not unique
  • Invalid data value/format
  • Invalid date format, or dates out of logical order
  • Required field is missing

To view the log for an import process

  1. Click View Log on the corresponding row in the Actions column.
The Import History Details window appears for the import process you selected.
  2. View the default display.
The default display includes all the import history messages in the Error Message column. The messages can be errors or warnings:
    • Error messages occur if the object could not be imported.
    • Warning messages occur if the object import was successful, but one or more fields could not be set or updated.
  3. You can manipulate the data that is displayed on the window, as follows:
    • To narrow the search, click Error or Warning, and then enter an object name, error string, or both. To complete the new search, click Apply.
    • To delete the log, click Delete This Log.
    • To export the log to a .csv file, click Export to File.
    • To refresh the data on the window, click Refresh.
