Editing templates
After you have saved a template once, the Template Details screen for that template displays an Edit button instead of an Add button. To make further changes or additions to the template, you must edit the template.
You can edit a template to include additional phases and tasks. You can change the names and description of the phases and tasks. You can also reorder the tasks listed in the template.
You can select if you want to apply the changes in a template to only a new project or to all existing projects. If you choose to apply the changes to only new projects, the existing projects that use the template are not updated. The updated template is used when you create a new project using that template. If you choose to apply the changes in the template to all projects including the existing projects, the existing project lifecycle is updated with the new changes. When you apply changes in a template to existing projects, the tasks and phases that are already complete are not modified. Similarly, the software does not update any projects that are marked as cancelled or completed.
You cannot delete a phase of the project template if a user has already created a project using that template. Similarly, you cannot delete a task in a phase of lifecycle template if a user has already completed that task for a project using that template. Additionally you cannot modify the Page Type, Attachment Group, and Budget Type fields, when a task is already complete for a project.
