Setting options to view PDF help files

BMC IT Business Management Suite user interface displays a Help menu to access online help. When you select an option in the Help menu, the corresponding help is displayed in your browser. You can also access BMC IT Business Management Suite documentation directly from https://docs.bmc.com.

You need access to the internet to view the online help. If the users in your organization are not connected to the internet while accessing the documentation, by default the software displays local help in your browser. The local help files are shipped with the software. Alternatively, you can set the options for users to view PDF files from the Help menu instead of HTML help displayed in the browser.

To set the options to view PDF help files

1. Go to https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/bmcitbm81/Home and generate the required PDF files.
    To generate PDF files:
   1. In the Home page, click on the Export to PDF option.
   2. From the list of topics, select the required topics.

   3. Click Export. 

      Success

      Tip

      The Help menu displays eight options. Therefore you can generate as many as eight PDF files with varying content to link to the Help menu.

2. Go to magick URL and click on the Config Parameters tab.
    For more information on accessing the magick URL, see Advanced-configuration-options.
3. In the Config Parameters tab, update the following parameters to point to the PDF files:
   WIKI_HELP_OFFLINE_FOLDER_PATH = Base folder path. For example, c:/ITBM_DOC/
   WIKI_HELP_OFFLINE_ADMINGUIDE = Relative path to Admin Guide. For example, /Admin_Guide/AdminGuide.pdf
   WIKI_HELP_OFFLINE_FOUNDATIONUSERGUIDE = Relative path to ITBM User Guide. For example, /FoundationUserGuide/FoundationUserGuide.pdf
   WIKI_HELP_OFFLINE_PPMUSERGUIDE = Relative path to Project and Portfolio Management User Guide. For example, /PPMUserGuide/PPMUserGuide.pdf
   WIKI_HELP_OFFLINE_HCMUSERGUIDE = Relative path to Human Capital Management user guide. For example, /HCMUserGuide/HCMUserGuide.pdf
   WIKI_HELP_OFFLINE_GCMUSERGUIDE = Relative path to Governance and Compliance Management user guide. For example, /GCMUserGuide/GCMUserGuide.pdf
   WIKI_HELP_OFFLINE_VRMUSERGUIDE = Relative path to Vendor Relationship Management user guide. For example, /VRMUserGuide/VRMUserGuide.pdf
   WIKI_HELP_OFFLINE_SCMUSERGUIDE = Relative path to Service Cost management User Guide. For example, /SCMUserGuide/SCMUserGuide.pdf
   WIKI_HELP_OFFLINE_FRMUSERGUIDE = Relative path to Financial Resource Management user guide. For example, /FRMUserGuide/FRMUserGuide.pdf
   WIKI_HELP_MODE = Y
4. Click Save.
