Managing permission rules

Permission rules control user access to specific windows in BMC IT Business management Suite. A set of permission rules is available by default. You can customize the permission rules as per your requirements. You can use the Permission Rules tab to create, view, modify, and delete permission rules. BMC IT Business management Suite uses permission rules that are set as Active.

You do not need to restart the application server after adding or modifying a permission rule. However, writing Permission Rules requires advanced skills and knowledge of the BMC IT Business Management Suite. This interface is intended for BMC representatives or personnel trained by them.

The following figure shows the Permission rules tab:

The procedure to create, view, edit, and delete permission rules is same as that for managing alerts with the following exceptions:

  • Instead of EventRules tab, you use the Permission Rules tab.
  • For a permission rule, you need to define page uniform resource identifier(URI) of the page for which you are controlling the permissions. For example, project or status.

For more information on procedures to manage alerts, see Managing-alert-rules.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
