Term substitution


The application terms tab that you access using magick URL shows the list of BMC IT Business Management Suite terms for which you can do the term substitution. Term substitution means modifying terms as they appear in the BMC IT Business Management Suite user interface. BMC IT Business Management Suite user interface immediately reflects any changes that you make to the terms. You do not need to start the application server again.

If your installation has been configured to support multiple simultaneous languages, you can translate terms. Select another locale on your home page and then follow the procedures in this section. When you modify terms, enter their translations. A user, who selects the same alternative locale, will see the translated text.

To substitute terms globally in the user interface

  1. Go to http://<hostName>:<port>/itm/magick.do.
    • hostName: Server on which BMC IT Business Management Suite is installed
    • port: Port number
  2. Log on with your BMC IT Business Management Suite administrator user name and password.
  3. Select the Application Terms tab.

    The Applications Terms tab content appears, as shown in the following figure.

  4. In the Message column, double-click the table cell that contains the term that you want to modify.

    The cell becomes editable.
  5. Enter the new term.
  6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for each application term that you want to modify.
  7. Click Save to save your changes to the database, or click Reset to discard the changes and revert to the last saved values.

    Note

    You cannot substitute terms for fields that have been modified by using the Object Metadata screen (see Modifying-field-labels).

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
