Customizing fields and terms

Typically, a BMC Customer Support representative assists you with your customization efforts, such as modifying field labels as they appear in the user interface, and implementing flex fields. These procedures are not part of the normal administrator interface, but they are documented here for the advanced administrators. You can skip this configuration to use the default values.

Note

If your installation is configured to support multiple languages, you can translate terms and fields. Select another locale on your Home page, and then follow the procedures in this section. When you modify terms and field labels, enter their translations. A user who selects the same alternative locale will see the translated text.

The first tab in the advance configuration options interface, that you access using magick URL, is Object Metadata. You can use the Object Metadata tab to perform the following tasks:

  • Customize the field labels in BMC IT Business Management Suite user interface.
  • Create and implement a flex-field of an object.
     BMC IT Business Management Suite user interface reflects any changes that you make to object metadata options immediately in the user interface. You do not need to restart the server.
