Unified BMC IT Controls Management with BMC IT Business Management Foundation
All modules in BMC IT Business Management are built on a unified architecture that is driven by the BMC IT Business Management Decision Foundation (formerly called BMC IT Business Management Foundation). The BMC IT Business Management Decision Foundation is a core component that can, like other data sources, leverage data from the BMC Atrium Configuration Management Database (CMDB). The BMC IT Business Management Decision Foundation now includes BMC IT Controls Management functionality, providing scheduling, tracking, and audit support for general controls and for process assurance activities in all modules of BMC IT Business Management Suite.
When you upgrade to BMC IT Business Management Suite version 8.0 from an earlier version, the configuration parameter for using the BMC IT Controls Management module, GCM, is set to Y by default, regardless of whether you were using the BMC IT Controls Management module before upgrading. An administrator can view the configuration parameters in the advanced configuration options by using the magick URL.
Improved performance of list pages and choosers for faster display of results
BMC IT Business Management Suite was enhanced to improve performance in the following areas:
- List pages and choosers were enhanced with smart paging to display the results faster even with large data set such as projects, assets, suppliers, business units, IT staff or clients, and actual costs.
- If a user has data access to top-level organizational unit and the tenant company has a large number of organizational units, the list pages available to the user now display the results faster.
- Performance was optimized for large data set for General Ledger Account. It affects project budgets, General Ledger Account chooser when creating a budget or actual line item, and budget amortization.
Added people templates for creating new user profiles
BMC IT Business Management Suite now provides out-of-the-box people templates for creating new users. The templates are automatically installed when you install the application. The templates are designed for BMC IT Business Management Suite user roles, providing the specific recommended permissions for the role. You can use these templates in BMC Remedy Action Request (AR) System to create new users with the permissions that you need for a specific role in your organization.
Added Permission Management tool for assigning or changing permissions specific to a user role
BMC IT Business Management now provides a Permission Management utility with which you can assign multiple permissions specific to a role and add to the existing permissions for a user. For more information, see Managing-permissions.
Right-aligned financial data onscreen
To enhance the usability, all the financial data in BMC IT Business Suite is now displayed right-aligned in fields and tables.
Added new flex fields
Flex fields provide an efficient way to add extra fields in the user interface to customize the software to meet your requirements. BMC IT Business Management Suite now provides flex fields for the following additional windows:
- Cost Benchmark
- Consumption Metric
- Planning Scenario
For more information about flex-fields, see Implementing-flex-fields.
Added new staging tables for data import
To support the new feature of demand and resource forecasting, BMC IT Business Management Suite now uses following additional staging tables for data import:
- IDD_PROJECT_DEMAND
- IDD_PROJ_DEM_LINE_ITEM
- IDD_PROJ_DEM_LINE_ITEM_DETAIL
- IDD_RES_SUPPLY_LINE_ITEM_DET
To support the loading of benchmark data, the following staging table was added:
- IDD_COST_BENCHMARK
Enhanced importing of budget line-item data for a project by using a staging table
You can now use a staging table to import budget line-item data for a project. The IDD_BUDGET_LINE_ITEM table was enhanced to include the following columns:
- PROJECT
- PROJECT_BUDGET_NAME
- BUDGET_TYPE
Enhanced administrative interface to set fiscal month
In the previous version of BMC IT Business Management Suite, an administrator used the advanced configuration options in the magick URL to set the fiscal month for an organization. The administrative interface has been enhanced so that an administrator can use the Fiscal Calender option to set the fiscal month. The corresponding configuration parameter in the magick URL is no longer available. For more information, see Setting-the-fiscal-calendar.
Deprecated configuration parameters in the magick URL
The following configuration parameters are not used in BMC IT Business Management Suite and are now removed from the magick URL user interface:
- ADVANCED_SECURITY (entire table)
- CLIENT_IMPORT_MANUAL_UPDATE
- CUSTOMER_NAME
- DB_VENDOR
- DOCUMENTATION (entire table)
- FINANCIAL_FISCAL_PERIOD (entire table)
- LDAP_CONFIG (entire table)
- LICENSE_HOST_NAME
- LOGGER_GROUP (entire table)
- GCM (Enabled Module table)
- Module User Count (table)
- Scheduler parameters: SCHEDULE_SECURITY_GROUPS_IMPORT, SCHEDULE_CHANGEREQUEST_JOB, SCHEDULE_CLIENT_IMPORT (Scheduler Parameters table)
- REPOSITORY_PATH (Maximum number of associations table)
Changed the name of the form for importing data using BMC Atrium Integration Engine (AIE)
The ITBM AIE Client Company form is now called the ITBM Client Company form. You use the ITBM Client Company form in BMC Remedy AR System to prepare the data to be imported to BMC IT Business Management Suite. For more information about using AIE to import data, see Using-AIE-to-import-data.
