Specifying allocations

Failed to execute the [bmc-contextid] macro.

You can specify the amount by which a cost element is allocated to a cost model. You can choose from three types of allocation methods.

  • Auto
By default, the software uses the Auto allocation method to distribute the amount equally between each instance the cost element is used. For example, if a cost element is used in two cost models, the software assigns 50% allocation of the element in each cost model.
  • Full
Use the Full allocation method to allocate an asset completely to a model irrespective of the number of times it is used in other cost models.
  • Manual
Use the Manual allocation method to specify custom allocation values for each element used in a cost model.

    Note

If you change the allocation values for an element that is used in multiple cost models, the updated allocation values are available in related cost models only after you refresh those models.

The software calculates the planned allocation for fiscal period from Janary to March as follows:
    ((10.00% * 10.00 + 10.00% * 20.00 + 20.00% * 30.00)/(10.00 + 20.00 + 30.00)) * 100%
    = 15%
The planned allocation is displayed in the model hierarchy pane.

    Note

If the direct cost associated with an element is zero, the software uses the value 1 to calculate the planned allocation.
