Generating a bill of IT
Failed to execute the [bmc-contextid] macro.
A bill of IT provides a comprehensive view of utilization of services by an organizational unit. The bill of IT shows how an organization is using one or more IT services, and the cost or price associated with each service.
To generate a bill of IT
- In the View By field, specify whether to view the bill of it in terms of cost or price of a service: select Cost or Price.
When you select Cost as the View By option, the table in the Chargeback Analysis pane displays the following information:
- Service: Displays a list of IT services that the selected organizational unit uses
- Consumption: Displays the cumulative consumption data for each service for the entire fiscal range: Actual, Planned, and Variance values. The unit of measure is the same as that of the consumption metric.
- Unit Cost: Displays the average per-unit cost of using each service. For more information about how average unit cost is calculated, see Analyzing-chargeback-for-a-service.
- Share of Cost: Displays the percentage at which each service is charged to the selected organizational unit according to the following formula for calculating the share of cost:
Share of Cost = (Actual Chargeback for the selected business unit/Total Actual Cost) * 100 - Chargeback: Displays the Actual and Planned chargeback amounts for each service and the variance between the two. For more information about how the software calculates chargeback, see Analyzing chargeback for a service.
- Total Service Cost: Displays the total actual cost of the service. The software uses the cost models for the service to calculate the total actual cost. In a cost model, the actual cost is displayed in the Content Model Hierarchy pane.
When you select Price as the View By option, the table in the Chargeback Analysis pane displays the following information:
- Service: Displays a list of the IT services that the selected organizational unit uses.
- Consumption: Displays the cumulative consumption data for each service for the entire fiscal range. The Consumption column displays both Actual and Planned values along with the variance between them. The unit of measure is the same as that of the consumption metric.
- Average Price: Displays the average per-unit price of using each service.
- Share: Displays the percentage by which the price of each service is shared among the organizational units. The software uses the following formula to calculate the share of price:
Share of Price = (Actual Chargeback for the selected business unit/Total Service Revenue) * 100 - Chargeback: Displays the Actual and Planned chargeback amounts for each service and the variance between them. For more information about how the software calculates chargeback, see Analyzing chargeback for a service.
- Total Service Revenue: Displays the total actual revenue of the service. The software uses the price information that you specify in the cost models for the service to calculate the total actual revenue.
