Creating planning scenarios
To create a planning scenario, users must have their access restriction set to the organizational unit for which the planning scenario is being created and must have the Finance Planning permissions. The access restriction determines the highest level for which a planning scenario can be created by a user. That is, if the second access group is set to an organizational unit that is three levels from the top, the user cannot create a planning scenario for an organizational unit higher up in the organization.
To create a new planning scenario
- In the Top-level IT Department field, perform the following actions:
- Click Edit, and select the highest level of IT department that is represented in the scenario.
The Planning Scenario can include the budgets for all the IT departments that are subordinate to the IT department that you select, according to the organizational hierarchy that was created in BMC Remedy AR System.
If you do not make a selection in this field, creates the placeholder department IT Roll-up, to which all the IT budgets can be rolled up. Using this feature gives you a view of your IT budget totals even if your organizational structure does not consolidate IT under a single organizational unit. - Click Save.
- Click Edit, and select the highest level of IT department that is represented in the scenario.
- In the Access Restrictions field, specify the groups that have access to this data.
For more information about specifying access restrictions, see Data-access-restrictions.
