Filling out and submitting timecards

  • Category
     Typically includes Projects, Assets, IT Services, Application Instances, and additional categories that were configured for your organization, such as Other Work.
  • Name
     Activity within the selected category. For example, the category Projects would include the names of individual Projects. Similarly, within the category Other Work, activities such as Meetings, Training, and Email might be listed.
  • Task
     Associated with the selected activity.

To fill out and submit a timecard

  4. Enter the time you spent on this Task or activity in the appropriate cell or cells, using your locale's decimal format. For example, the English format for the United States for four and one half hours would be 4.5, not 4:30. As you enter time,

    calculates and automatically fills in the Total column and the various Total rows. Times entered in increments of less than .01 hours will be rounded. For example, the entry 2.456 would be rounded to 2.46 hours.
    If you enter an invalid value (for example, more than 24 hours for one day), the cell is highlighted in red. If you attempt to save an invalid entry, an error message displays the reason the value is invalid. To save your Timecard edits to the database, you must first correct any invalid entries.

  9. When you have finished entering all your time for the period on this Timecard, click Save and Submit. This action indicates to your manager or Timecard approver that this Timecard is ready for review.

    is configured, you may not be able to submit a Timecard that includes more than the maximum number of hours or less than the minimum number of hours that define your work week in your IT Staff record. The minimum and maximum values for your work week are displayed at the bottom of your Timecards.
