While the BMC IT Business Management Suite installation program supports configuration of only a JBoss application server, you can manually configure IBM WebSphere Application Server as your application server. Install WebSphere Application Server on a dedicated server according to the minimum hardware and software requirements. BMC IT Business Management Suite supports WebSphere version 7.0 with IBM JDK 6.0 SP15.
Note
A known caching problem in the default configuration of Microsoft Internet Explorer Versions 6, 7, and 8 causes some browser-based applications to hang indefinitely. This problem can occur when you use the WebSphere Business Space Administration widgets in the following sequence:
- Click a module name in the Module Browser to view its details in the Module Graphical View widget.
- View another module or view specific module artifacts (for example, properties or policies).
- Try to view the details of the first module again in the Module Graphical View widget.
In this scenario, the Module Graphical View widget does not load the module details because Internet Explorer is configured to display a cached copy of the page instead of the new version that the widget requires.
Workaround: Configure Internet Explorer to load a new version of pages each time you view them.
Configuration for Internet Explorer 6:
- Click Tools > Internet Options.
- In the Temporary Internet Files section of the General tab, click Settings.
- In the Settings window, click Every visit to the page, and then click OK.
- On the Internet Options dialog box, click OK.
Configuration for Internet Explorer 7 and 8:
- Click Tools > Internet Options.
- In the Browsing History section of the General tab, click Settings.
- In the Settings window, click Every visit to the page, and then click OK.
- On the Internet Options dialog box, click OK.
